Why this converter

How to use it

Drop a PDF onto the box above (or click it to pick a file). The text is extracted page by page and assembled into a Word document — each PDF page starts on a new page in Word. If your PDF is a scan with no selectable text, the tool offers a one-click OCR step that also runs entirely on your device. Download the .docx and edit it in Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs, or Pages. Everything stays on your device from start to finish.

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF to Word converter really free?

Yes. No account, no trial, no watermark, and no limit on pages or conversions.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The text is extracted and the Word file assembled by code running inside your browser on your own device — you can confirm in your browser’s network inspector that nothing is sent. When you close the tab, nothing remains anywhere.

How faithful is the conversion?

Honestly: it converts the text — paragraphs in reading order, with page breaks where the PDF had them. It does not recreate columns, tables, fonts, or images. For editing the words of a contract, article, or report, that is usually exactly what you want; for pixel-perfect layout it is the wrong tool, and we would rather tell you than pretend.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes — that is this tool’s quiet superpower. If no selectable text is found, one click runs OCR (optical character recognition) entirely on your device; even the OCR engine is served from this site, never from a third party. Scan → editable Word document, with nothing uploaded anywhere.

Will Word open the file correctly?

The output is a standard .docx that opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs, and Pages. Each PDF page starts on its own page in Word.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Not directly — remove the password first with the Unlock tool (also on this site, also entirely in your browser), then convert.
